Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9 Build Identifier: Firefox Setup 1.0PR.exe Launching Firefox Setup 1.0PR.exe First dialog box says "Welcome to Netscape 7.2 Setup. You are about to install Netscape version 7.2". This happened on at least one machine with Netscape 7.2 already installed, but not on at least one machine without Netscape 7.2. Also, the machine in question has Netscape 4.79 as well as 7.2. Now that I think of it, the Netscape 7.2 installation may have left a Java installation window open for over 24 hours at which point I aborted it. Netscape 7.2 itself seems to work fine. If anyone thinks it might be useful, I am willing to try completely uninstalling the re-installing just Netscape 7.2 and Try FF 1.0PR again. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install Netscape 7.2 2. run Firefox Setup 1.0PR.exe 3. Actual Results: First dialog box says "Welcome to Netscape 7.2 Setup. You are about to install Netscape version 7.2". Expected Results: Proceeded with Firefox installation.
To end the problem, remove the folder ns_temp and all of its contents from the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Temp", and run the firefox installer again. Creating a new user profile only circumvents the problem by creating a blank temp folder, but also a lot of rubbish you don't really need.
