Page contains a left-hand div with position:absolute and a right-hand div with
overflow:auto and a long text. Vertical scrollbar appears and works. However,
scrolling with the mouse wheel does not work when page is first loaded, only
after clicking on a link to a target in the long div: it becomes
wheel-scrollable. If refreshed, it resumes the not-responsive state.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load the page
2. Hover over the right-hand "pane" (div) which has a vertical scrollbar
3. Try scrolling with the mouse wheel.
4. Click in the div to try to get its attention, then try scrolling with the
mouse wheel again.
5. Drag the elevator to verify that scrolling is possible.
6. Position the div so that a "Top" link is visible and click on it.
7. Try scrolling with the mouse wheel again.
8. Reload the page and repeat 1-7 until the cows come home.
Actual Results:
1. The page appears, with a vertical scrollbar on the right-hand edge.
2. Nothing in particular, just cursor movement, which is pretty normal.
3. Nothing in particular: I expect vertical scrolling.
4. Still nothing.
5. It moves up and down normally.
6. Displays top to div (normal).
7. It now scrolls vertically normally.
8. Not sure, may I stop now?
Expected Results:
Responded to the mouse wheel without further ado.
This also occurred in 0.9 yesterday (before I changed). For perspective, IE6
seems to get it right.
I rarely encounter this page structure (replacing frames?), but if this is the
coming thing then Firefox should be fixed before this bug becomes widely noticeable.
I've pruned the file down to a test case, which I attach. The original linked to
a css rather than having it in the header, but the behavior was the same.

Mousewheel scrolling for divs using overflow:auto was fixed on the Mozilla 1.8
trunk via bug 97283. This wasn't ported to the Aviary Branch (where Firefox 1.0
development happens). I think the decision whether this fix should also land on
the aviary- and/or 1.7-branch should happen there, so I'm marking this bug as a
dupe.
