User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; sl-SI; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040618 Firefox/0.9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; sl-SI; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040618 Firefox/0.9 (I'm bound to have placed this bug in the wrong component; please do recategorise it if this is so) I should like to ask for approval of the set of search plugins to be shipped by Firefox in Slovene (sl-SI) by the branding team in regard to the localisation trade mark policy. According to the policy, plugins may only be localised and not changed. However, this makes little sense in Slovene for several of the plugins. Included in en-US are: Amazon.com Dictionary.com eBay Google Yahoo Allow me to explain why these may not be the best choices: Amazon.com: it is, first of all, not available in Slovene; further, many products can only be shipped within the USA, and for the rest, the postage fee is outrageous. If there is a NEED for Amazon to be included in the default search plugins, I would like to change this to Amazon.de, which is nearest to where most potential users would be. (Alternatively, Amazon.co.uk is also suitable.) However, I don't really think anyone would really use it, not least because there are local internet shops. Alas, there is none with such a broad scope of products, so it makes no sense to include a large set instead. Dictionary.com: This is an English-English dictionary. It makes no sense to include it in a localised build. I suppose one could make a search plugin for SSKJ, which is *the* authoritative dictionary of Slovene and is available on the web: http://bos.zrc-sazu.si/sskj.html eBay: similarly, it is not available in Slovene, and nothing similar is available in Slovene. I don't think very many people would use it, but then, I could be wrong. Yahoo: it is not available in Slovene, and there are other search engines one can utilise instead Google: it has been localised and should be included with the default sl-SI set Furthermore, the Slovene packages have always contained additional search engines which some have come to expect. These are: Matkurja (matkurja.com): it is one of the oldest search engines in Slovenia; it has a big database and should probably be included for its 'events' search if nothing else Najdi.si (najdi.si): this is probably the most popular, the most used and the most accurate search engine in Slovenia; it is in a way quite similar to Google in Slovene, and has the added advantage that it can search for inflected word forms that Google cannot; in addition, because we have included their search engine in the Slovene Mozilla builds, they have been advertising Mozilla in Slovene (and have, in fact, generated a LOT of downloads based on the referrer HTTP string on our website) Sigov (iskalnik1.gov.si/compass): this is the Government's search engine and can search through all documents published by the Government on the internet Slowwwenia (slowwwenia.com): this is another popular search engine, and it is moreover a web directory The search plugins mentioned are all in the Slovene CVS repository. I should much appreciate it if you could look at them and see if they are appropriate for inclusion in the Slovene localisation. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
a=rebron This is fine. No l10n version for Yahoo. Can you take a look at decreasing the number of bookmarks in the bookmarks.html file to 12-15 links total (doesn't include links to Mozilla.org or Mozilla affiliate sites.)
