I would like to request an option to use the old find dialog rather than the new
find bar, because I prefer the dialog.

Maybe as an extension, but not going to be a core feature/pref.

Seconded, and there's other people on the mozillazine forums that feel the same way.
Where would I find documentation on writing such an extention?
