Details

User-Agent:       Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

When I try to perform google seach from the Toolbar Search field (upper right
field), instead of getting the search reasult, I am redirected to the google
homepage (this example gives the google homepage for my domain):
  http://www.google.com/intl/zh-CN/

However, keyword search still work. i.e., typing the following in address field
still work:
  google foobar

Other search engine (like Yahoo) still work.

This happens on both Linux and Windows (Win2k and WinXP Home) platform. I just
tested 2004-11-3 nightly build, it's also broken.
I noticed this in Firefox 1.0.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type something (like "foobar") in Toolbar Search field.
2. Make sure selected search engine is Google.
3. Press enter.

Actual Results:
Instead of searching result, you will now been redirected to google homepage.

Expected Results:
Google search result page.

Google search on the toolbar worked before installing FlashPlayer 7.0.19.0.
I don't know if this is related. Also, search does not work for Creative Commons
(but I don't know what that is and don't use it).
Google search was working for me up until yesterday, when it mysteriously
stopped working at no particular juncture or after any particular sequence of
events. I too have installed the same version of FlashPlayer, but I did so a
week ago.

Typical search: I type in search words, hit return and get nothing whatsoever.
The page remains unchanged.

I'm using Firefox 1.0 on a Windows XP system. Not sure what build... I
downloaded the browser on Nov. 10 at around 4:25 p.m. ET.
It seems it's a bug of Firefox running on Simplified Chinese OS.

Deleting "client=firefox-a&rls=..." in search URL will solve this problem.
According to Comment #1 in Bug 269600, the "client=..." suffix is added by
http://bonsai.mozilla.org/cvslog.cgi?file=mozilla/browser/base/content/searchconfig.properties.
Though Firefox developers may think it's a bug of Google, it's better to put
these properties in search plugin (google.src) so the user can change them as
needed.

I am running Firefox 1.0 on Windows XP. I find that after "a while" the Google
search from the search bar stops working. Also, on the search bar menu, while
Yahoo, Amazon, etc. all have names next to the icon, the word "Google" no longer
appears next to the Google icon.

Also I have noted that the C:\Program Files\Mozilla
Firefox\searchplugins\google.src file is corrupted. The file contains only a
portion of the original version of the file.

<input name="ie" value="utf-8">
<input name="oe" value="utf-8">

    browserResultType="result"
    charset = "UTF-8"
    resultListStart="<!--a-->"
    resultListEnd="<!--z-->"
    resultItemStart="<!--m-->"
    resultItemEnd="<!--n-->"
>
</search>
end--------------------------------

I have found that doing an uninstall/reinstall fixes the problem. I have also
now saved a copy of the original google.src and if this happens again then I
plan to restore the original version of google.src to see whether this fixes the
problem.
