Forwarded from Galeon bug http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157996 Could we please have a padlock on the usename/password prompt that pops up when we enter a page with WWW-Authentication? It would be nice to know wheter username and password travels over a secured SSL-line or not. This can not be determined from the padlock in the status bar since we could be following a link from a not-secure to a secure site or the other way. Or we could be travelling from one SSL-site to another where one site has a broken certificate.

According to HIG the dialog should have a padlock icon already, but it's not meant to indicate the security status. A different icon might work, but it could also be too subtle. http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/2.0/windows-alert.html#alerts-authentication

essentially a duplicate of bug 115500, I think. needs a new nsIAuthPrompt interface (bug 265780) (In reply to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157996#c1) > The dialog is handled entirely by mozilla hmm, looks like it is indeed handled by gtkmozembed. so, not marking duplicate, but just a dependency
