It would be nice if Sunbird would support the 800x600 resolution better. There
is still a huge percentage of 24% internet surfers out there that use this small
resolution. Source: http://www.onestat.com/html/aboutus_pressbox31.html
Moreover, most companies in many places in the world still run on old machines
with 14/15" CRT monitors on 800x600 (I know, my old company in UK was running on
them, all employees had the same 15" monitor).

Currently, the window kinda fits on a maximized on a WinXP default desktop
(don't forget the Windows taskbar that takes away about 30 pixels vertically,
while under Gnome it's 48pixels that go away because of its two taskbars), but
there are still problems: I can't see the arrows on the right, and when I resize
the "Calendar" view, the date numbers on the right look bad, as a vertical line
runs across them! Even after I remove the text under the toolbar icons, and make
these icons "small", problems remain.

I believe, that with a bit more carefullness, 800x600 can be beautifully
achieved, and allow 25% more people in this globe to use your application as
they were meant to. :)

Primary culprit seems to be 80px-wide boxes in weekview.
The reason for 80px seems to be to accomodate "All Day Events" on one line, but
that does not apply across languages. (Anticipating that tasks may someday
appear as well as events, maybe &allDayEvents.label; could be reduced to "All
day" or just "Day", but this patch does not do that.)

This patch converts the 80px +/-2px widths to 60px +/-2px

The resulting window does fit on a 800x600 screen. The min width is about 680,
so at width 800 there is a more little room to expand the tabs table columns if
desired.

calendar.css: change week view from 80px to 60px widths

Checked in. Thanks.
Is there more improvement to be done for this bug or can it be closed?

I will need to check it out before I can close the bug. If your new version is
out soon, I can check it out..
FYI, this change is NOT present in the 20041217 xpi.
(was not checked into branch)
This patch can be applied to the 0.2 branch from which builds are currently
being made, so marked Target Milestone 0.2rc2.
Target Milestone: --- → Sunbird 0.2RC2
Gekacheka: Just a note that we are trying to keep the changes to the 0.2 branch
very very small, just to have a relatively stable release for users while the
major refactoring is going on which prevents us from having new releases.

The patch in bug 360947 enables grid views to shrink to fit on narrow screens.
Depends on: 360947
Is this fixed in latest Sunbird nightlys after patch in bug 360947 landed? -> qawanted
Keywords: qawanted
Sunbird is now still usable at a window size of 655x470 if you use small toolbar icons. Closing the unifinder also makes more room. Marking as FIXED.
