Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 In the page at http://home.comcast.net/~t.r.valentine/quote_test.html I have created a page which tests the <q> tags, specifically a <q> tag within a <q> tag. The 'embedded quote' does not render according to HTML4 standards. Based on the information in the source, the 'embedded quote' should have *double* quotes. The outer quote is rendered properly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: This is a rendering problem. Actual Results: The tags were not rendered properly. Expected Results: It should have been rendered according to HTML4 standards -- in the page http://home.comcast.net/~t.r.valentine/quote_test.html it should have used double quotes in the embedded quote. Firefox 1.0 does not render properly. Mozilla 1.7.3 does not render properly. Opera 7.54 does render properly. Forget about IE (piece of junk), it doesn't recognise the <q> tag at all.
Fixed on trunk, current nightlies do, and Firefox 1.1 will, get it right. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 24861 ***
