I couldn't find an existing bug for this, but pls dup if needed.

found using 2004120607-trunk firefox bits on linux fc2.

after decompressing the non-installer blob (installers currently broken) and
launching firefox:

a. no longer prompted to make firefox my default browser

b. the default browser pref in the General pref panel is gone

(on a related tangent, see bug 263214.)
a bit more info: I'm using gnome v2.6. (not a problem using ffox 1.0 either.)
would this be dependent on bug 263214?
Flags: blocking-aviary1.1?
My question is this: I've found that setting Firefox default in KDE doesn't
accomplish anything. It is required to set it in the gnome-control-center to get
it to actually work as default. Is that behavior covered under this bug, another
bug, or should I file one? (a search only turned up this and bug 263214)
Brian, do reassign as needed. thanks!

hm, this now seems to be working using 2005011807-trunk firefox bits (on fc2, at
least). this wasn't working with 2005011414-trunk --out of curiosity, who/what
fixed this?
w4m using recent trunk builds (installer and non-installer).

this bug is still ongoing,... i cant find the option to set as default browser
in FF 1.0.4 or 1.0.5. i'm told on the support forums that you think you fixed
this back in Jan, you havent. I'm using SuSE 9.2.
I wouldn't call this a bug. The trunk seems to have added this preference and I
think of that as a regression. Any "default browser" setting on Linux is going
to be either:

a) An environment variable
b) Distribution specific
c) Desktop environment specific

Therefore I don't think this preference belongs in the Linux version.
