Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Firefox crashed twice in a week and brought the operating system down (Windows 2000). In this process, all the bookmarks I had saved also disappeared. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Launch Firefox 2.Surf the web 3.Access a bookmark that links to a dynamic page (like Flash loaded site) Actual Results: The OS blue screens When you log back on, the bookmarks folder has disappeared. Expected Results: It should not have crashed the OS and the bookmarks should never disappear.
You should be able to recover your bookmarks from a backup that is made automaticly. http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile Follow the directions in the section titled "Locate your profile folder". There should be a file named "bookmarks.bak" in your profile folder. 1. Open the bookmark manager (bookmarks --> Manage Bookmarks) 2. in the bookmark manager choose (File --> Import) 3. Select "From File" and choose Next 4. Navigate to the folder where the bookmarks.bak is located and choose Open *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 193749 ***

It shouldn't be possible for Firefox (or any normal app) to crash Windows 2000, due to how the system architecture is implemented. Maybe the OS crashed while using Firefox, but that's a different problem. v/dupe
