Details

When switched to russian input locale, copy/paste shortcuts (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) are not working. Switching back to english turns them back on. Confirmed on Mandrake 10.1 and Fedora Core 3.
Component: Keyboard Navigation → Other
Product: Firefox → Mozilla Localizations
Version: 1.0 Branch → unspecified
Orignally filed under Firefox product.

QA Contact: jruderman
Confirmed on Debian. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050324 Debian/1.7.6-1 All shortcuts with Ctrl key are unavailable in russian mode.
Reporter: how did you configure keyboard layout switching (setxkbmap, xmodmap...)?
Confirmed on my Slackware 10.2 notebook. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051230 SeaMonkey/1.0b Important! ONLY the GTK2-builds (not GTK1!) have this bug! Other GTK2-applications like gFTP don't have this bug! I can use Ctrl+C/X/V there! Moreover, NO shortcuts (Ctrl+S, Ctrl+T etc.) are working when switching to russian layout! My xorg.conf section: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Keyboard1" Driver "kbd" Option "AutoRepeat" "500 30" Option "XkbRules" "xorg" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" Option "XkbLayout" "de(nodeadkeys),ru(winkeys)" Option "XkbOptions" "grp:ctrl_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll" EndSection I don't use any keyboard indicator application. WM: fvwm 2.5.14.
"NO shortcuts (Ctrl+S, Ctrl+T etc.) are working when switching to russian layout!": i mean - in seamonkey, not in gFTP :)
I have the same problem, version 1.0.7 (20050923), Suse 10 For KDE programs the problem can be solved by setting "include latin layout" in kxkb. This makes no difference for Thunderbird however.
Got the same problem: ASPLinux 10 Firefox Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; ru; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051107 Firefox/1.5 Thunderbird version 1.5 (20051201) xorg.conf: Section "InputDevice" Identifier "Keyboard0" Driver "kbd" Option "Protocol" "Standard" Option "XkbModel" "pc104" Option "XkbLayout" "us,ru(winkeys)" Option "XkbOptions" "grp:ctrl_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll" EndSection gedit and other programms works fine.

The problem is not related to clipboard exchange but keyboard keystrokes handling somewhere in mozilla core modules. None of Ctrl+LETTER commands work on BOTH (1.5 versions) Firefox and Thunderbird on Linux when switched to russian locale.
another dup of bug 69230 (IMO)
Confirmed on Debian GNU/Linux Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.13) Gecko/20060704 Debian/1.7.13-0.2
Rhis bug exist from the mozilla 0.x and the problem is not only with the russian locale but with locales which layout differs from latin! A lot of people suffer from this bug (see for ex.: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69230) This bug is reproducable only in linux. Other gtk+ application does not suffer from this, so the problem. We will pray for you, brave developers, if you fix it in Firefox 2.0 ;-)
Ubuntu 6.10 + Firefox 2.0 I'm so SICK to switch keyboard layout from russian to english to have vital shortcuts working like: Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+T, Ctrl+F and then switch back to russian again. Fix it finally!!!!
