User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 I have noticed lots of words that the spell checker does not have suggestions for or incorrectly stops as being misspelled. For example, in the American English version, it things the word dialogue is not a word. Dictionary.com recognizes it as the correct spelling, or at the very least a variant of the word dialog. I am not an English major, but I am pretty sure dialogue is as commonly used as dialog, if not used more. Furthermore, the word dialog is not even a suggested word to replace dialogue. I have this really bad habit of spelling the word definitely as definetly. Thunderbird recognizes definetly as misspelled but does not give a suggestion. These are two examples that I can think of right now. If you want I can keep you updated if I see more. Also, it should be noted that Microsofts products, such as Word and Outlook Express, do catch these words. In the case of dialogue it does not stop it as misspelled, and in the case of definetly, it suggests the correct spelling. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a e-mail compose window. 2. Type a message with the words dialogue and definetly (exact spelling as I typed them) 3. Run Spell Checker Actual Results: see details Expected Results: It should recognize dialogue as a correct word. Definetly should have definitely as a suggestion. Is it possible to import dictionary files, or to have it check words against sites such as dictionary.com? Are you working on making the dictionary database more extensive? If not, these are suggestions for the problems I have seen with Spell Checker.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I am using Thunderbird version 1.0 (20041206). Also, the word "things" in my previous message, should be the word "thinks" Hope this helps.
