Based on 267828, we should review Normalize and possibly cleanup.
In particular, the behavior is something like (this is from memory; I'm not sure where the original description was, but I don't see it on bug 267828): * a single dot at the end of a directory or file name is removed * any combination of dots and spaces at the end of a file (but not directory) name is removed
