Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.10.1

Msg: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive
\Device\Harddisk1\DR1.

This may not really be a Firefox bug. I think it was related to old Mozilla
directory in "Program Files" catching the DOS 8.1 filename entries
("C:\\PROGRA~1\\MOZILL~1\\FIREFOX.EXE...") in the Registry. It was a fluke. It
stopped after I deleted the older Mozilla directory from "Program Files."

Bug occurred
------------
Occured while saving HTML files to disk, and downloading zip files from said
page simultaneously, with multiple Firefox instances open (more than 8).

The error might also occur in other situations, not tested.

Error Window:
-------------------------
Title: Firefox.exe - No Disk
Msg: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive
\Device\Harddisk1\DR1.

Version:
------------
0.9.3 and up

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803
Firefox/0.10.1

Error persists across version updates

Resolution:
=============
Resolved by deleting old mozilla directory from "Program Files", which seemed to
be capturing the Firefox Mozilla DOS 8.3 filename entries in registry; then
exporting and importing Firefox registry entries that referred to DOS 8.3 filenames.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Actual Results:
All Firefox instances locked up and had to be shutdown via task manager. Lockup
was decided after 20 minutes of inactivity.

Expected Results:
Either said, "I'm busy!" or just buffered the save until it wasn't busy.
I forgot to mention that the message only pops up when starting the first
instance of Firefox. Additional instances do not show message. That fooled me,
I thought that deleting the old Mozilla directory solved the problem, but it did
not.

For awhile it also fooled me into thinking that it only happened when I used the
Start Menu; because I'd start the 1st instance from the Start Menu, see the msg.
and then start a 2nd instance from the Firefox directory, and would not see the msg.

Summary: Error Msg on startup: "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR1." → Error Msg on startup: "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR17."
