I apologize if this is a repeated bug, but I have been through the bookmarks
bugs and, although there are MANY about lost bookmarks, I see nothing exactly
like this - only losses due to upgrades, etc., but not Windows crashes.
Windows XP Pro (Version 5.1, Service Pack 2) crashed last night, apparently due
to a driver error. I have not been able to discover which driver of the MANY on
my computer. I had no programs open, had my finger on the mouse to turn off the
computer when it happened. When I launched Firefox (1.0.1) this morning, the
look was different and all my bookmarks had been deleted.
I have tried everything suggested in the forum for this problem. I searched for
bookmarks.*, with hidden files and folders and system folders included and
displayed, and found several bookmarks.html and bookmarks.bak files. The most
recent one that contained any of my bookmarks was the one created when I began
using Firefox in August 2004 and imported bookmarks from IE. The more recent
files were empty except for the bookmarks included with Firefox installation.
This has sent me back to IE, because I have made innumerable changes since
August 2004. It does no good to reimport IE bookmarks, since I have added none
there (hardly used it) since that time. I have now installed the backup
extension, but that does me no good for all those lost bookmarks.
I will greatly appreciate it if you know of anything I can do to recover these
bookmarks. From what I have read extensively so far, it's not possible, but I
have hope.
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Cannot reproduce a Windows XP Pro blue screen crash and wouldn't want to.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Not applicable.
Expected Results:
Saved my bookmarks like it always does. If not, allow me to recover them somehow.

> Your report is a duplicate, and you will find instructions on mozillazine
Could you please be a little more specific? I don't understand. I have spent a
couple of hours today reading posts in mozilla forums that I reached through a
Google search, and trying to figure out what to do. What do you mean by
"mozillazine"? Is that a website? If so, is there a specific page I should go to
on this mozillazine to find these instructions? Thank you.
