User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050223 Firefox/1.0.1 StumbleUpon/1.9992 Build Identifier: Firefox/1.0.2 StumbleUpon/1.9992 I installed the 1.0.2 update and was denied connection to any web sites (I cannot recall the exact error message but access was denied). I found 1.0.2 installed in parallel to 1.0.1 in XP Add/Remove programs. I uninstalled 1.0.1 and this disabled Firefox completely. 1.0.2 could not be uninstalled after this. I reinstalled 1.0.1 and have been surfing happily since then. Reproducible: Didn't try Expected Results: Installed and allowed normal web access.

Are you sure this wasn't caused by a Firewall software? Often, firewalls block access to programs with the same filename but with different contents, which would be the case in a new Firefox install.

Running XP Pro (SP 2) with Windows Firewall ON. I have downloaded and installed the 1.0.2 update three times now and am denied access to web sites. The message reads: The connection was refused when attempting to contact http:// ... I've tried uninstalling version 1.0.1 and then running setup again with the same results. When I reinstall 1.0.1 everything is fine.
Reporter: This appears to be a problem with either your firewall or your DNS. Most software firewalls (i.e. Zonealarm) will restrict programs from accessing the network if they change from the previously allowed 'version' based on signatures. This prevent maliciously hijacked programs from gaining network access. You need to allow the new version of Firefox through your firewall. If that doesn't help, try doing ipconfig /flushdns at the run dialog. Feel free to reopen if this does not help.
