Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2 After upgrading to Firefox 1.0.2 from 1.0 FINAL, Firefox is listed twice in the Windows Control Panel "Add/Remove Programs." Searching the Windows registry reveals multiple "1.0" keys listed alongside "1.0.2" keys containing identical data. I first noticed this problem when I attempted to install Flash after the upgrade and it listed both versions of Firefox as a supported browser. See Steps to Reproduce for a workaround. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: I've reproduced this defect on two seperate machines. 1.) Begin by installing Firefox 1.0 FINAL. 2.) Use the TOOLS > OPTIONS > ADVANCED > SOFTWARE UPDATE > CHECK NOW vector to upgrade to 1.0.2. (Have not tried to repro from the standalone installer) 3.) After completing the upgrade, check Windows Control Panel "Add/Remove Programs" to see that Firefox 1.0 is still listed as an installed program next to Firefox 1.0.2. 4.) Open REGEDIT and search the registry for "firefox" - there are multiple keys referencing Firefox 1.0 explicitly. As a work around, I was able to delete all registry keys that explicity listed "1.0" in their name and contained identical data to the explicitly named "1.0.2" keys (leave keys not explicity named "1.0" alone). This removed the Add/Remove Programs listing and 1.0.2 still works normally. Actual Results: I first noticed this problem when I attempted to install Flash after the upgrade and it listed both versions of Firefox as a supported browser. Prior to this, Firefox appeared to be working properly using the 1.0.2 code. After cleaning up the registry manually Firefox continued to function. Expected Results: The installer should have removed all references to "1.0" I would like to suggest that the 1.0.2 installer be fixed for 1.0.3 and the 1.0.3 installer should clean up artifacts left over from any prior upgrades.
