valid W3C html and css loads but is not rendered => completely blank page showed

Firefox shows a completely blank page for this url. The page is valid transient
html and the css should be fine too. The page is fully loaded (complete source
is there) bot nothing is rendered.
Reproducible: Always

The CSS has this line, setting style on a <div> that encompasses the entire page:
#body{position: absolute;top: 0px;left:50%;width: 780px; margin-top: 0px;
margin-left: -390px; z-index:-1;}
The "z-index:-1" part is the culprit, removing it makes the page display.
