I often use tabbed browsing when I want to download pictures or PDF files. Each
time I have same problem: saving files locally takes more time than displaying
it within the web page. My usual procedure is to right click on thumbnail of the
picture and then I click "open in new tab". In that manner I NEVER opened more
than 10 tabs with pictures. When I use this procedure for PDF-s I always open
only one tab, than wait to load complete PDF, and then "save copy"..
When I want to save picture loded in manner I described before(in new tab) I
also right click on it and then "save picture as". That is common for all of us.
Yes, but WHY firefox each time starts to download picture or PDF file again form
the site, instead to save it from the cache (locally, from the internet temp.)??
What is the use of cache then? Normally, I have to wait for a long time again.
The cache settings are default (5MB), connection speed is ADSL 384/64. I am
cleaning cache more than 3 to 4 times daily, have no plugins, no extensions,
only Noia theme. Windows:XP Professional SP2, hardware is IBM T41 laptop..
Also, if the computer comes from stand by/sleep, and firefox was acitve when
stand by /sleep occured, it won't work.. I use firefox almost one and a half
year now, I prefer it before IE, but this is annoying. Oh, yes, also, IE has
"save target as" firefox has "save link as", but it is not working when you want
to download media files locally (wma, qiuck time, anything). I download the
link, but not the file. At the same web location IE downloads the file?! And
really, I do not want to use IE any more so please fix this, please, please....
Thank you for reading this and kind regards from Croatia... Mario
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to url with PDF file, wait the page to load fully
2. then click on button save copy
3.you will see that the firefox is downloading the file again instead to save it
from the cache.
Same thing happens with the pictures when you right clikc on them and then click
"save picture as"
Actual Results:
described in "Steps to Reproduced" querry
