User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 When attempting to import IE Favorites under Windows 95 or Windows 98, either just after installing FireFox (or anytime after rebooting and subsequently restarting Firefox), selecting IMPORT from the File menu results in a page fault. The operating system reports the following: FIREFOX caused an invalid page fault in module FIREFOX.EXE at 0137:0086cd19. Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=0137 EIP=0086cd19 EFLGS=00010297 EBX=00000000 SS=013f ESP=00c9c448 EBP=00c9c474 ECX=00000001 DS=013f ESI=6030d3ee FS=120f EDX=00c9c45c ES=013f EDI=027a1900 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 8b 08 ff 51 0c 8b 1d f0 7e 8a 00 8d 4d e8 ff d3 Stack dump: 00000000 00c9c45c 027a191c 027a1918 602d4f28 603135a8 00a37c68 00000007 00000001 00dc39b4 00000000 00c9c498 0086cc8f 00c9c66c 00c9c4d0 00d76c0a Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start FireFox 2. Select Import Actual Results: Program crashes. Expected Results: Since I have never gotten beyond this point, I have never seen what is supposed to happen. The Bookmarks.html file appears to contain all of the Imported IE favorites, but they do not show up in the Firefox Bookmarks menu. Thus, it appears the bookmarks were successfully imported at some point. Strangely, of the hundreds of IE bookmarks, only two bookmarks presently appear from the IE Favorites and there is no file artifact or registry entry that contains either of them them (I searched the entire disk). Thus, the next question is: Where are the two successfully-imported bookmarks being stored? Knowing the answer to this might give a clue as to what is causing the crash. My wild guess is that this is in some way related to corruption in a Firefox binary file. I would be glad to provide additional information if needed.

The page fault information shown below was generated on a plain vanilla PC with 256K RAM running Windows 95 SP2 with IE 5.5 installed. Only 3 programs loaded as part of startup list: AtiKey32, Starter and CookiePatrol.

Please provide a talkback ID from that crash. (Talkback should popup after the crash. Submit the report and run firefox\components\talkback.exe to get the ID after the crash)
OS: other → Windows 95

(???) I'm afraid there is no such path as "firefox\components\talkback.exe" nor
is there any such program as "talkback.exe" anywhere on my hard drive.
The version that is crashing is:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95; en-US; rv:1.7.5)
Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0
as reported by the Firefox "About" dialogue. Please do advise if you need
anything else from me.

Install 1.0.3 with talkback (use costum installation and be sure that Talkback is checked).
