User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050421
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050421

The header bar shows in messages of every other mailbox I checked (Sent, Drafts,
Junk, etc), but it doesn't appear in the Inbox messages. The only way to view
headers in Inbox messages is to look at the message source.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Mozilla mail.
2. Open a message in the Inbox
3.

Actual Results:
Only the body of the message appears.

Expected Results:
A toolbar showing brief or expanded header information should appear.

This bug apparently resulted from changes since 4-11-2005 in the nightlies. This
needs to be fixed before any milestone releases.
Seems to wfm on Seamonkey 2005042009 on Mac OS 10.3.8
That narrows down the time of origin, if it's a valid bug. I didn't take the
time to get the 4-22 build, back to using an earlier one, am done for the day.

If one's own email address is in the "from" field, the expandable header toolbar
is shown in the message window. But if not, if the "from" field contains a
sender other than oneself, the header toolbar is not shown. This happens with
messages in the inbox folder and with messages in old renamed inbox folders.

This problem is still in rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050428.
Another 4-28 observation: In the view menu of the message window, my header
display was set to all. After setting it to normal, the header bar with the
expansion widget appeared. Clicking it showed normal headers. Resetting
view\headers back to "all", the header toolbar remained, and clicking the widget
showed all headers (or as much as would fit on the screen).

This behavior suggests that there's an initialization problem with the header
toolbar. This problem seems to exist only when one's own email address is NOT in
the "from" field.
Using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050501, the
header toolbar and widget seems to appear only after the view\headers setting is
changed from "all" to "normal." Changing it from "normal" to "all" doesn't do it.

After toggling the view\header setting to "all" and closing the message,
re-opening the message results in the header widget and toolbar no longer being
displayed.

Findings for Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050503:

Some senders' messages show the header bar, header widget and subject line and
some don't when view/headers is set to "normal." This difference appears to be
per-sender, not per-message.

It appears that header bar, widget and subject line of most or all messages are
not shown when the view/header setting is "all".
This problem doesn't seem to be in 1.7x versions such as Mozilla/5.0 (Windows;
U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050428, only the 1.8b versions since about 4-21.
See Bug 291599 - Message attachment breaks display of message headers
which is a possible dupe of this bug. It says the existence of an attachment on
the first message read, when in View/All Headers mode, causes this bug.

Confirmed in 2005050305 on Windows ME. My previous build was 2005041905 which
did NOT have this problem, so it's new since then

The headers appear to be working right in Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US;
rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050508

Agreed, seems to be fixed in 2005051105 in Windows
WFM per comment 9 and 10. Surprised you didn't close your bug(?)
