When trying to create a filter for newsgroup messages, the option "Copy to
folder" is grayed out.

The same feature has already been added for mail (bug 262184) but not for news.

Problem still exists in Thunderbird version 1.0.6 (20050716).  I still believe
this enhancement is needed.  Would someone with the power to mark a bug as
"confirmed" please do so.

This is not a problem anymore in thunderbird 1.5. (I assume fixed by niel's checkin for bug 293141 as earlier stated.)

Still happens in Thunderbird 1.7.1.

1. Select any news server in folder pane
2. Expand it to show newsgroups
3. Select any newsgroups
4. In menu bar, do Tools -> Message Filters
5. Hit "new" to create a filter
6. Examine the list of possible filter actions at the bottom.  "Copy to folder" is the second item in the list, but is grayed out.  This fact needs to be changed.

There is no such thing as thunderbird 1.7.1. Just tried it on 2.0 again, works just fine. (And it's the first item, not second.)

sorry for the spam.  making bugzilla reflect reality as I'm not working on these bugs.  filter on FOOBARCHEESE to remove these in bulk.

it´s not greyed out for me in thunderbird trunk, windows. 

But, it´s not functional...doesnt copy news post to another folder. And, there is an entry in the filter log saying the message was copied to the local folder.  Wasnt there a bug about a log entry but message action did not happen.

Confirming. Perhaps a regression if it worked in 2.0...i didnt test 2.0

Didn't work for me on linux/trunk now when I tested. And for me too, the log entry is still written. (2.0 doesn't either, i suspect I was talking about the grayed out issue earlier)

so, manual run works for me.  automatic does not, but log entry says it did.
sounds like a dupe.
