happens here: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050502 Firefox/1.0+ I don't know if this is a bug or not, but it's been this way for some time. I suppose the idea is that someone might want to speed up their scrolling for a second while dragscrolling, and then not.

I believe this is bug. The auto scroll mode should be cancelled with mouse wheel event. This bug might be related to bug 293872.

bug 319080 would want to keep this behavior. bug 22775 comment 31 suggests mouse wheel movement should cancel autoscroll
Summary: Mouse scroll does not reset scrolling state → Mouse scroll does not reset autoscrolling state
