We might as well use the Tbird addressbook, since it's just sitting there.
dmose will know how to make this suck least, I predict.

Does it only concern Lightning ? What about Sunbird and SeaMonkey ?
Because the address book will also be used when associating attendees to an event, won't it ? As shown on the UI "mock-up" of bug #287550 for example (attachment #178561 [details]).
I already implemented addressbook integration (as well as support for LDAP) in the new dialog (see bug #324657). The patch will be submitted in the next few days.
Cleaning up incorrectly assigned bugs; search for dmosecleanup to get rid of this bugmail.

This should depend on the Sun dialog landing. Once it's in, we can mark this FIXED as well (provided that support isn't ripped out before we land it).

Assigning this to mickey since he's the point person on the dialog.

I hope that support is still there since Sun dialog has landed
The "sun/prototype" dialog indeed integrated the thunderbird addressbook including LDAP search. For those that don't already know, the dialog has landed a while ago, you currently need to set the preference "calendar.prototypes.wcap" to "true" in order to activate the dialog. As soon as the 0.5 release is out of the door we'll make this new dialog the default, just to have enough time to iron out all problems that might exist before to finally make it the standard dialog.
Since bug #386589 has landed, I assume we can close this one?

IMHO this one should be closed

Confirmed with Tb 2.0.0.6pre (20070727) + Lightning 0.7pre (2007072704) on WinXP. -> Marking WFM.
