follow the remarks below to create problem: e.g. it shows the normal way a
newbie would try to update firefox with the calendar extension:

Now, the following steps are the way to get it to work:

1) first download from:http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/download.html
the file for windows is:  calendar_windows_20050111.xpi  download this to your
desktop

2) right click on the file and indicate you want to open the file with firefox.

3) the firefox extension handler will come up and you just need to click install.  

4) you can customize the tool bar with the desktop calendar icon

Steps to Reproduce:
1.launch firefox and bring up extensions
2.find the calendar extension and download
3.https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=208   from this web site
you get the download that says version is not compatable vith this version of
Firefox

This is not a bug in Firefox, neither it is a bug in update.mozilla.org. The
1.0-compatible calendar extension either wasn't submitted to u.m.o or wasn't
reviewed yet. In the first case, you need to contact Calendar extension
maintainers about it, in the second case, there's not much you can do, except
for volunteering to test extensions for u.m.o.
