to more than 7 secs. if i remove the history file, it starts as fast as usual.

Steve:

I'm not sure. The first relates to Firefox (but could be easily expanded), and
the second involves the window itself and apparently has nothing to do with
general browsing. If anything, dupe to bug 223476 and expand it to both Firefox
and the suite.
the firefox bug was my first aim, but since my reply from like half a year ago
produced no result, i created a new bug for the suite.
WOW !!!
another massive problem, beside the slowdown, this creates a massive memory usage.
start mozilla with google as homepage and NO history file -> mem usage 23megs
real 14 megs virtual
start mozilla with google as homepage and 30meg history file -> mem usage 65megs
real 54 megs virtual !!!
35 meg history file -> 69 + 60 megs = 129 megs startup ram usage
Summary: big history.dat creates extremly long startup times → big history.dat creates extremly long startup times and high memory usage
duping to 193236 - future comments should go there.

bug 223476 could probably also just be duped, but leaving that for someone else due to its mess of dependencies
