User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050517 Camino/0.8+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b2) Gecko/20050517 Camino/0.8+ The new Go menu implemented as a fix for bug 291414 works great *except* if History is set to 0. In this case, it displays nothing at all. A suggestion was made on the MZ forums that Camino should check for a history setting of 0, and if it finds such a setting, Camino should put the old-style individual tab session history in the Go menu. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set history to 0. 2. Browse a few sites. 3. Note empty Go menu. Actual Results: Go menu is empty Expected Results: Go menu should contain session history Granted, I see that there is very solid logic in assuming when the user says "set history to 0" that means "do not record any history whatsoever", like Safari 2.0's so-called "pr0n mode". However, it seems that there are people who very much miss the session history feature and who choose to discard their browser history, for whatever reason. While the new Go menu is great for most people, the few who are browsing without history are getting royally screwed. (NB: I am not one of these people, but this seems like a fairly simple fix.)
To me it seems like if you set the history to 0, you want no history kept, period. However, Camino does keep session history even when history is set to 0, and that session history would have shown up in the "old" Go menu. So on the surface what this bug proposes seems like a fairly reasonable option; I think objections are probably going to be of the nature of maintaining a complex/dual codepath for an option that placates a small number of people. I can see the logic here, but is it really worth it?

I am using SeaMonkey on a Win2k machine and finding that even with the History set at 9 days that there is still no history of the current session PLUS the location bar doesn't change ro the new URL once you leave the originally entered site or go elsewhere via link. In fact, I was at www.ARRL.org and decided to check the bugs on this through the QA drop-down menu and even as I am writing this the ARRL URL is still in the location bar and there is no history of the last 10 link clicks PLUS this location there. The only way I can get SeaMonkey to cooperate is to open up a tab and begin my session from there. All works fine beyond the originating window. Monkeyshines. SeaMonkey has a completely different implementation than Camino. Please file a bug on them ("Mozilla Application Suite" in Bugzilla).
Based on comments 1 and 2, Stuart's comment in the other bug, and lots of discussion on irc, we're going to WONTFIX this. If we do get significant feedback indicating lots of users want this, we can look at this again.
