problem:

In HTML forms, or the URL field of Mozilla, or whereever, selecting text
works, but I cannot paste it.
Selected text in Mozilla seems not really to be copied to a buffer, because
when trying to paste in Mozilla, previously selected text from for instance
an xterm, is pasted instead of the text selected from Mozilla.
It is not related to any specific website, and because pasting from the URL
field in Mozilla also does not work, maybe it has more to do with Mozilla's
widgets, and X11.
