The history (and other sidebars) should be filled out by another thread. 
Currently, if I enabled the history sidebar, it takes about 15 secs to appear,
and in the meantime, FirFox appears to have crashed - clinking the close box
causes windows to put up the "This application is not responding" dialog.

This is appauling coding.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Presumabably you need to have a reasonable size history...

Actual Results:  
Locks up for about 15 secs

Expected Results:  
Sidebar should be filled out by a separate, non-blocking, thread !!!

Learn to write some multithreaded code !

Running on a reasonable machine, Athlon XP2400, 1G RAM.
