"about:plugins" does not work in the Linux version of Firefox-1.0.5 (but does
work OK in windows version of Frirfox 1.0.5)

the following text was displayed (instead of a list of plugins):

should have displayed a list of plugins

Having re-installed Firefox 1.0.5 for Linux, The problem is no longer apparent.
