307307 - Update Hang when updating with incompatible extensions

Chase/Asa/Marcia have run into this on Mac and Windows.

After we bumped the version to 1.4, extensions became incompatible. After
updating in Firefox, the app hangs presumably while checking for updates to
installed extensions.

When I did this on Windows, I properly got the wizard telling me that the
following extensions would be disabled.

I'll let Chase/Marcia/Asa expand on the exact steps when they got the hang.

Whenever I switch between trunk and branch, extension update gets 5/6 of the way
through checking for extension updates and gets stuck.  It isn't a hard hang,
since I can click "Cancel".  I'm using Mac.

I see what Jesse's seeing, the progress meter goes to about 80% and then stalls.
As with Jesse's account, it's not a real "hang" since you can cancel out of it
with no apparent negative effects. 

Perhaps we should get this up on the Mozilla Quality blog and try to get more
feedback.

I'm testing on branch Windows XP, and I don't think I've ever used the trunk
with this profile.

Asa and I are seeing bug 307235, "Compatability checker checks endlessly".  Is
this a dup or are some people seeing hard hangs?
