The disk image icon we use now really doesn't work when scalled down. This
should be improved before we go final.

This how it should look. I now used the simplified version of the app icon to
ensure that when scaling down the icon it's still recognisable.

I agree this is clearer, and it doesn't suffer the white points on a white
background that the existing icon does. But I do feel that it's just a little
too far removed from the Camino icon, so doesn't immediately remind me of camino.

Can the color be tweaked to be closer to the blue globe color, and maybe try a
more 3D globe in the center? It should look like a hemisphere placed on a
horizontal surface.

Color: I can change that to be more like the icon no problem. Although I think 
that it's already very close, maybe close enough.

Icon: you say it doesn't look to much like the app icon, I would disagree. I
think it resembles it close enough to use like this. More over we use this
simplified icon on a lot of places on the camino website, more like a logo then
an icon. I wouldn't do anything about making anything look more 3d. The whole
point is to have an almost symbol like version of the icon that can be used for
caces such as this one. As soon as you strat filling in any surface we have now
you will get blurry soup when we scale down.

Note that the focus on making this icon is ensureng that it's also a whole with
the blank disc image icon. It will get very messy if you do to "complex" imaging
on the disk image icon.

It took me a long while to get my head around the idea that the b/w compass on
cb.o was a simplified representation of the Camino icon instead of some dingbat.
 Is there a "compromise position" on the globe part that lies somewhere between
Simon's comment 3 and Jasper's comment 4?

Ok so I tried to make the icon a bit more spactious, the "globe" (if I may call
it that) now has a small subtle highlight just like in our app icon.

Note that the idea here is to use a simplified version of the app icon.

I think this is good enough for 1.0. Any further changes can be made later, but this is a definite improvement.
