When in multi tab mode, sometimes, the text selected can not be copied (not from
the context menu, not from the program menu).
Related to this, appear that that if you do "Select all" and have something
selected in another Tab, the other tab text will be "Select All".
This happened in a web forum and it is impossible to copy and paste from a page
to another to post a reply or to copy the text to a near wiki.

Reproducible: Sometimes



Expected Results:  
Select the text in the visible tab.
Copy the selected text in the visible tab.


NO crash, no problem.
Closing the pages end the problem.
It appear related with selecting the text with mouse and using the arrow keys.
But it reappear in a without apparent causes.

Workaround not working for copy & paste - bug (In reply to comment #142)

*To run clipbrd.exe (Clipboard Viewer) does not solve the copy and paste
problem, neither does opening in a new window.
*Only workaround for me is to copy from one tab, paste in note/text/any-pad,
swich to the new pad, copy from anypad and paste it. This only works if I swich
windows before the second copy and paste, otherwise the clipboard is blank again
*argh*. Awful if you work with tabs, wikis or anything.
*Other workaround is to work with one instance of firefox and do all copy and
paste operations from or 2 opera...
*Drag and Drop sometimes works too...


Situation:

Copy and paste between different tabs or windows does not work at all (100%).
This problem does not affect other applications, just firefox. It seems that the
clipboard is deleted (for security reasons?!) when swiching from one tab/window
to another, but not when working with external programs...

System:

WinXP_Pro_SP1, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12)
Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 (happened in the earlier version I had installed
2), Extensions: DOM Inspector, Wikipedia, Greasemonkey, CopyPlainText (tried is
as a solution for the copy and paste problem), RoboForm;

Unsuccessful tries:

1.Reinstalling after cleaning all data from previous installs
2.New User Profile
3.Open Clipboard
4.CopyPlainText (tried is as a solution for the copy and paste problem)
5.Work only with Firefox Windows, not with tabs
6.Upgrade to Firefox 1.0.7
7.Playing around with security settings

Suggested workarounds thus far (comment #142):
 
1. Open the current page in a new window (I usually just open any page in a new
window and check copy/paste there).

2. Start -> Run -> clipbrd.exe (Clipboard Viewer) 

3.Copy from one tab, paste in note/text/any-pad, swich to the new pad, copy from
anypad and paste it. This only works if I swich windows before the second copy
and paste, otherwise the clipboard is blank again

This bug is still occurring. Using version:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.3) Gecko/20060426 Firefox/1.5.0.3

Copy from one window or tab to another doesn't work. When you right click for the paste option it does not appear, as if the clipboard is empty. It usually works on the second try. Happens about half the time for me.

This is a severe problem.  See my site at

Go to any book chapter:verse i.e. Gen 1:1. Select and try to copy ANY text, English or Hebrew.  With either the Edit menu or by the right mouse menu the "Copy" item is grayed out and unusable.  The CTRL C keyboard shortcut is also ineffective.

Try this magic:  Click on the tab text between the blue white Tanach icon and the red X close box so that a thin rectangle appears there.  Then the "Copy" menu items are dark and usable.

I think the tab loses "focus" when an XSL transform is made into the document and that clicking on the tab text puts the tab in "focus".

If the "Copy" item is dark the first time, press the "Back" button to return to the home page, then click in the text field with the same book chapter:verse as before and type RETURN.  The Copy menu item will then be grayed out.

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.x or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
