Ryan, this should have been fixed in 1.5b1 while the reported says it worsened.
So calling this a dupe doesn't seem right.

reproter, can you try in Firefox-savemode to rule out an extensionproblem.
I copy&paste uncountable times per day and haven't seen it break in quite a while.

I know this bug is marked as duplicate already, but I see that Peter still
receives emails on it. Also, the response is about clean profile, not about safe
mode really. In my case sometimes right-click paste is disabled;
right-click-copy does not fix the issue...

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=311818

In this thread I also mentioned that I saw the issue with absolutely clean
profile... (I am on windows xp sp2, and I've seen it on win2k at home too):

I've been seeing this issue for a while now as well (in branch nightlies). Just
tried in

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050916 Firefox/1.4

with clean profile - saw it again. Extremely frustrating. Can't seem to put my
finger on what exactly causes it. select-copy does not actually copy from
location bar.
Depends on: 305032
I was experiencing this issue on Firefox 1.0.7 and upgraded to 1.5b1 in hopes of
avoiding it, but no luck. Copying from the URL bar or a text box often does not
work (copying actually clears the clipboard of anything that was in there).
Strangely, copying from the text of a page seems to work more reliably.

Switching focus to other windows and then coming back to FF *sometimes*
alleviates the problem and allows me to copy, but this is a major blocking bug.
It makes 99% of what I do on the web unworkable.
This is probably a dup of bug 305032.
Steps to reproduce:

I have clean profile, no extensions, homepage is the default Google-page. Latest
nightly from beta 1 version: 20050925
Operating system is Windows 2000 with SP 4, Finnish language version.

1. Open Firefox
2. Open another Firefox window ( I have an icon at the quick launch bar, that is
where I started both of the windows )
4. In the second window, copy some text with Ctrl + C
5. Go to the first Firefox window, click on the text field and press Ctrl + V to
paste. Note, if your clipboard was empty, everything worked fine.
6. Now, close both windows

7. Open Firefox
8. Open another Firefox Window
9. In the second window, copy some text with Ctrl + C, but be sure not to copy
the same text what you copied last time.
10. Go to the first Firefox window, click on the text field and press Ctrl + V
to paste
11. The text from the first copy is pasted.

This happens every time I try it.

Note: If there is already something in the clipboard, that might get copied
already after the first round. Also if it get's copied on the first try, it
propably gets copied on the second try also.

I checked the "duplicate" bugs, but this seems to be separated issue (althought
it might have roots in the same problem). If you still think this bug is a
duplicate of another bug, please tell me if I should reporst this to under
another bug.

This bug has bothered me for weeks. First I thought I didn't press the buttons
correctly. Then I started wondering is my keyboard broken. Then I suspected
extensions or profile. Then I finally figured out how to reproduce it. And I was
able to reproduce this with both of my home computers and with clean profiles
without any extensions. So it is a bug and pretty serious one too.
Actually, further investigating this, this seems to be dupe of bug 305032 as
mentioned in comment 6. I noticed that the actual error is in the second Window,
not in the first. And second window behaves as mentioned in that bug.
