(Reporter: seth, Unassigned)
Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050908 Firefox/1.4
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050908 Firefox/1.4
Since running 1.5 beta 1, I have gotten the "Unresponsive Script" pop up ("A
script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can
stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will continue.").
However, it pops up when a script is not running. It seems to pop up after a
page takes a long time to load (server has a lot to process, or an upload takes
a while). It usually pops up *after* the page has finished. When you click
'Stop Script', the new page loads as if nothing was wrong.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to http://www.clubphoto.com/
2. Create a new album
3. Upload a file.
Actual Results:
When the the upload has completed, you will get the error message. Clicking
'Stop Script' will take you to the next page, and the photo uploaded successfully.
Expected Results:
The error message should not have been displayed.
Additionally, I have seen this in software that I have written. It happens on a
"Please wait..." page. The server spits out most of the page, then goes on to
do it's processing. When it's finished, it spits out some javascript that
submits a form to move the user on. The error pops up after the page has
finished loading, but just before the javascript fires.

Odds are you'll find it fixed by bug 302333, which you can test with either a
nightly build from after 20050921 or 1.5b2, which should be out soon.

Unfortunately, 1.5b2 did not solve the problem. (I agree that bug #302333
sounds just like this problem.)
Update: This error does not occur with a 50kb file, but does with a 1.5MB file.
I ALWAYS get this in Gmail, Imagestation, and anything that uploads take a while.
Simply try uploading 2 MB file to yourself in Gmail, you'll see this.
Please, don't deliver final FF 1.5 before such high-visibility issue is fixed.
Thanks.
Yep, been seeing this on sites like rapidshare.de and when uploading images to gallery software.
Confirmed still an issue in FF 1.5 RC3
Noticed this is filed under OS X -- I'm seeing it in WinXP also.

It also does this in linux with 1.5rc3 I hope this gets fixed before going live.
I also have this problem. After uploading a file I use 2 header("Location:..")s to get where I am going. Odly enough, the first header("Location:...") works while the second one freezes and after clicking the 'Stop Script', the new page loads like it should.

Whichever upload i used to do such message pops up.
Well, i uninstalled the extension SessionSaver and when i upload any file the message does not appear anymore.
I have unistalled this extension because i had many problems such as when i was in a forum site, i wasn´t able to copy and paste a part of comment when quoting, it was only possible to copy and paste an entire comment then i could just quote what i wanted. This happens when i am in forum sites, especially on Multiply.
This bug i couldn´t terminate.
If someone can help...
I am having many problems with this version => Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; pt-BR; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
My machine: AMD Duron 800mhz / Win XP version 5.1 compilation 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 service pack2
Ram: 256Mb

I get this too on 1.5, when uploading photos to craigslist.org.
The dialog is incredibly stupid; even if I click "continue", it pauses (preventing me from using the browser) for approx 1 second, and then pops back up. I have to keep clicking "continue" until the file upload is done. I will no longer use firefox for tasks like this because of this bug - it's incredible that 1.5 was released with this present (given that this issue was raised at least as early at July.)
I also added mrbkap@gmail.com as a cc, to whom bug 302333 was originally assigned.
I see this on Linux; I propose that OS be changed to ALL, and that priority be changed to P1.

Ah, as indicated by the above comment: SessionSaver is the culprit here. Please make sure that it is removed from the extensions site until this bug is fixed, as it (the bug) reflects terribly on the firefox product.
Thanks

Okay, last call for this bug, then: does anyone, particularly the original reporter, still see this with Session Saver disabled (ideally, in Safe Mode or a new profile with no extensions at all installed)?
And, rhetorical question, has anyone reported it to the Session Saver developer(s)?

I am the orig submitter. Everyone is right... it is SessionSaver causing the problem. (Thanks, everyone!)
I have alerted the SessionSaver developer.

The bug is still there in firefox 1.5.0.2
I don't have ANY extensions, so this is NOT related neither to session saver nor to anything else.
Long upload simply causes that, even if there is NO JAVASCRIPT AT ALL at the upload page.
