User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 I often discover, usually after several hours, that the computer is very slow. Using the task manager we see 100% CPU USAGE. I continues till I shut down Firefox completely. Usually it happens when Firefox is open with several tabs. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open browser with several tabs 2.live it working for severa hours 3. PC is AMD Athlon 64, 1GB memory Programs which were running along with Firefox: NAV 2005 Outlook 2003 Shareaza Soulseek Google Desktop 2
Summary: When bowser is open with several tabs, after some time, cause 100% CPU utilization → When browser is open with several tabs, after some time, it causes 100% CPU utilization
I have exactly the same problem using v 2.0.0.1 in win2k. My wife reports the same issue on her computer which is also running win2k but with FF 1.5.0.9. If you let firefox run for a while, CPU usage gradually creeps up to 100%. By using the 'restart firefox' extension, CPU usage drops to ~0%. So my workaround is to restart FF every 3-4 hours. At work I have been running v1.5.0.9 on XP with no similar problem.
Running WinXP on a Dell about 1.5 years old, Firefox has run perfectly for a year and more, but in the last few days, will suddenly go into a race condition of some kind, consuming all available CPU. I can close Firefox, but in the Task Manager I can see that 'firefox.exe' process is still running, and still consuming all available cpu. I can shut the computer down, but it sure takes a long time when firefox.exe is consuming all available cpu. For me this has happened most after Firefox has been open for some time. Usually I have more than one tab open. But it has also happened when rerunning almost immediately after a close down and reboot. Bummer.
Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1 Me too. Usually when I have multiple FF windows open, each with multiple tabs. I have 2 GB of RAM so there is ram available (it is not swapping) and 2 cores so the usage goes to 50% + other tasks but is clear when trying to download: the save button never becomes available (when this is not happening, the save button takes less than a second to un-grey.
still see this problem when using FF 3.5 beta (or 3.0?) http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html
