Might be an extention/theme issue but all are currently disabled.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b5) Gecko/20051006 Firefox/1.4.1 ID:2005100618 I saw this twice (in my case all folders were also highlighted) when my browser was open for a longer time but unused. It was my daily profile so I can't exclude extension influences. To me it seemed related to Bug 306426.

Yes, it seems somewhat related to Bug 306426 because it does blink, but only once and the items are responsive if you click on them, so I wouldn't say its a duplicate since the other bug report says that they're completely unresponsive, blink rapidly and it also does not specify which menu items are doing it.
Frank, a bug does not have to be /exactly/ like another one for it to be a dupe. This is the same core issue here. FWIW, this is pretty much reproducible every time after you switch themes with Firefox open. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 306426 ***
