it seems i cannot edit quite a few of the prefs, not just the homepage textfield
--seems that checkboxes, textfields and radiobuttons are affected. non-radio
buttons seem to work (View Cookies, Change Page) and droplists, though.
* Navigator: unable to select the radio button for "Navigator starts with..."
* Navigator > Smart Browsing, Internet Search: unable to edit/change the prefs
* Instant Messenger (all panes): ditto
* Composer (all panes): ditto
* Software Installation: ditto
* Advanced (all panes): ditto
...etc...
occurs on all platforms, upgrading severity.

addenda:
* Mail & News panes: unable to modify settings for radio
buttons/checkboxes/textfields
* Appearance panes: sometimes able/unable to change radio
buttons/checkboxes/textfields
am gonna see what happens if i (1) start with a clean profile or (2) trash my
localstore.rdf for an existing one...

nope, doesn't matter if i use a new profile, or trash the localstore.rdf for an
existing one.

also noticed that i cannot enter text into some of the textfields or change
radio buttons on forms, eg, any bugzilla report page. is this related to this
bug, or bug 31198?
