The big image at the bottom of the above page is quite huge - 1224x1583, but its scaled down on the page using height/width on the <img> tag. The image is also a link to a pdf file. When you drag the mouse into the image, the mouse cursor gets "stuck" and the CPU usage spikes for a second, right where the mouse cursor hits the edge of the image. The same things happens when mousing out of the image - the cursor gets stuck for 1-2 seconds, and the CPU usage spikes.
Summary: Mouse becomes jerkey when moving over scaled image → Mouse becomes jerky when moving over scaled image
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20051023 Firefox/1.6a1 ID:2005102313 WFM.
Interesting. I see this problem on my Athlon XP1800 box with a logitech cordless mouse and built-in video card circa 2002, (its a Shuttle SK41G, don't know the card off hand) but I don't see it on my Thinkpad T41 (1.6Ghz Pentium-M) with an attached (corded) microsoft optical mouse) I'd be curious if we could narrow down which some of these variables is affecting it. I'm guessing its the video card.
I have a similar problem when load a screenshot from this url: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/inspector/ The screenshot: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/inspector/screens/ss1.png I load the image, and then, when move mouse over the tab, if not the focus tab, the mouse stuck. Is evident in old pc, like Duron 600mhz(video TNT2 M64). But in a Celeron D 2.9ghz(video onboard SavageProDDR), the state of the tab is slow to change. This happens in Firefox version 1.5 and 2.0 rc1, with and without addons. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; es-AR; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060918 Firefox/2.0
This one has bugged me for quite some time now. I am using a Thinkpad T21 (P3-800 mhz) with the default dinky s3 video card. Any page with scaled images is slow to scroll, and the mouse "hops" when moving over a scaled image. CPU usage goes way up for a few seconds. Mark
Alec, Mark, Do you still see the mouse get stuck? I see a 10-20% CPU spike crossing the edge - a fraction of a second - but my mouse does not get stuck. Thinkpad T40 (so beefier than Mark's TP) FF trunk Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20061128 Minefield/3.0a1 The cause may be related to bug 163975. I see the same behavior of bug 163975's images when crossing the edge. Likewise, the URL in this bug shows the same cpu described in bug 163975 when scrolling. Steve Chapel (copied from bug 163975), do you see the behavior of this bug?

No, the mouse doesn't get stuck for me.
It no longer gets stuck for me. I am using Firefox/2.0.0.1.
