Details
(Whiteboard: closeme 2008-12-10)
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de-DE; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050922 Firefox/1.0.7 (Ubuntu package 1.0.7)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de-DE; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050922 Firefox/1.0.7 (Ubuntu package 1.0.7)
If I click on "permanently accept" when asked for what to do with the unknown certificate, Firefox crashes. The program is simply closed down without any error messages shown. There are not any error messages when restarting the browser, either.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open the URL
2.Click on "OPAC" (green word directly under Greifswald in bold)
3.Click on "accept certificate permanently"
Actual Results:
The browser crashes without any error messages.
Expected Results:
The certificate should be permanently stored.
This does not happen in Windows, nor does it happen on other pages.
I am using the German version of Firefox, installed from the package from Ubuntu 5.04 and updated with Ubuntus update centre. The only extension installed is AdBlock. I am using the standard theme.
Maybe related to bug 298906?

That page mentioned in ug 298906 makes my Firefox crash, too. But different to that bug I do not even need to click "OK", the browser already crashes when I choose "accept permanently".
So, there seem to be several site where this crash occurs, even though not all pages make the browser crash.
Sidenote: There is a workarround. When I click on "Seite einrichten" (file -> page preferences?) before I open the site which wants to install the certificate the browser does not crash. (I got this idea from the German Ubuntu forum, where someone had the same problem)
fwiw, camino-trunk doesn't crash.
reporter: please try firefox-trunk or at least a firefox 1.5 rc

Sorry, I do not get any of the beta packages installed, dpkg reports a collision, even if I de-install Firefox 1.0.7 previously. I have no clue where I would get a firefox-trunk for Ubuntu from and how to install it.

Firefox 1.5.0.4 crashes:
1. go to URL: https://mail.tepkom.ru
2. select "accept permanently" in sertificate confirmation request
3. press OK
also lastest version of thunderbird crashes on it.

reporter, Do you still see this problem. If you do not, please close the bug with resolution WORKSFORME, INVALID, etc as may be appropriate to your situation (but not FIXED unless you know the bug with the patch).
If you still see problem using a current version of Firefox or trunk build, please provide additional detail.
