Not sure on the origin, but I've managed to bring firefox into the 21st century as regards fashion - I just restored it and my tab bar has a vague pink tint which I promise I did not put there. I first noticed it after loading the Make: blog page in a tab (http://www.makezine.com/blog/) but I don't know if that was the cause. Some observations:

- No, it's not a system wide problem, other programs seem to be fine
- No, it's not a persistent problem, new firefox instances seem to be fine
- No, it's not a one-time rendering glitch, new tabs in the broken instance are also LGBT-friendly (pink).

What bit depth is your desktop in?

Also, can you try Firefox 1.5 RC1 and see if you can reproduce it?

In reply to vladimir, bit depth was 32 bit, and I have not been able to reproduce it even on the version I have, so I would say my failure to reproduce it on other builds would not be very informative. Certainly if I do see it on other builds, I will add a comment here.
I've had this bug too, but only on my Windows ME partition and ever since I upgraded from 1.0.7 to 1.5. The pink regions are more noticeably on my system than screen shots subbmitted. All the upper toolbars, menus and tabs can appear pink. When I hover over the toolbar buttons, they revert to grey. It appears to be a a Windows paint problem. The problem doesn't occur running Firefox 1.5 on my Windows 2000 partitions, nor indeed on my SUSE 10 Linux partition.

It could have something to with my graphics and/or drivers, but this only happens in FireFox - and then only in version 1.5+ and not in 1.0.7. It happens every time I use Firefox on Windows ME.

My graphics card is an AOPEN Aeolus MX440 8X (Nvidia chipset) with R56.55 drivers. As a matter of interest I reported a crash in OpenOffice Impress that only happened on Windows ME in versions prior to 2.0.1 but was which was fine versions 1.1.4 and 1.1.5. The bug has been fixed in OO v2.0.2.

I will try FF v1.0.8 and report back.
Tried 1.0.8 - no pink blotches. Had difficulty uninstalling 1.5.0.3 - had to manually delete installation directory and registry keys.
Summary: Firefox goes gay (tab bar is tinted pink) → Tab bar is tinted pink
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

I could never reproduce it effectively, but I haven't seen it in a very long time whereas, when it was happening, it would happen about once a month. Closing as requested.

Hi,

I'm afraid I can't close it, though I see someone else has. It happens consistently for me on Windows ME and for every version of Firefox that has come out including 2.0.0.4. FYI, I'm now using a newer Nvidia graphics card (6600GT) and always set my screen depth to 16-bit.

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME
