User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 UA: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Just installed 1.5 RC3 clean, and got the following error message: "Firefox could not install this item because of a failure in Chrome Registration. Please contact the author about this problem." This is not a duplicate of 311480. Don't ignore Windows users! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Firefox 1.5 RC3 as admin to the default directory, DO NOT LAUNCH FIREFOX AFTERWARDS 2. Load firefox as a user of the group Users Actual Results: Error message, failed chrome registration because the user does not have write privileges to Firefox's folder Error cannot be reproduced with 1.0.7, and cannot be reproduced with Safe Mode & 1.5RC3. You can delete the user's profile to get the error message again.
This *is* a duplicate of bug 311480: that bug is not linux-specific, it's only "systems that install with a privileged user and don't run with that user"-specific. And if you read the patch in the bug you'll see it has the windows manifests just like the linux manifests. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 311480 ***
