Details
This is the Deer Park build that is currently included with Fedora Rawhide. Version is:
firefox-1.5-0.5.0.rc3
Sometimes when you're switching tabs using the mouse you can accidentally trigger a drag. And sometimes when that happens it's easy to trigger a drag in such a way so that the drag gets stuck. Very often when this happens the tab that you are attempting to drag changes to a blank page. Hitting escape does not release the drag. Also, there's no visual indication that the drag targets (in the toolbar or in the set of tabs) are available as drag targets.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that a lot of people using this build see this problem. Don't know how it could be red hat specific, but it's possible.

Can you attach or link to the patches that are in that package, esp. to widget?

Patches can be found here if you want to look through them:
http://people.redhat.com/blizzard/mozilla/bugs/317293/
There are no patches to widget/ in there, but there are gnomestripe-related patches and stock icons in the set.

Steps to reproduce:
1) load a page which makes firefox slow (lots of flash)
2) make sure switching tabs will now take noticable time
3) while moving the mouse, click (and release) a tab and move into the content area
4) observe the cursor is a drag-and-drop cursor
This behaviour is made worse by the fact firefox 1.5 is noticably slower at switching tabs than firefox 1.0.
This bug has been driving me nuts ever since I switched to FF 1.5, I've had similar things happen when just clicking on links or images that are linked on older versions of Firefox too, but much less frequently. It is so annoying that I have been considering switching back to an older version. Randomly clicking around or hitting escape fixes it sometimes. Firefox should be able to detect accidental click-drags for the entire interface (If I knew how, I would put in a .5 second delay or something similar before it detects the drag to reduce the chances of it accidently happening).

There are two possible issues here: One could be that you're seeing bug 305970 (which has been fixed on trunk), or you could be seeing bug 307184.
