(Reporter: vincent-moz, Unassigned)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux ppc; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050923 Firefox/1.0.7 (Debian package 1.0.7-1)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux ppc; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050923 Firefox/1.0.7 (Debian package 1.0.7-1)

When I click with the middle button on a bookmark item from the Bookmarks menu, nothing happens. I've noticed that this bug occurs only when the Bookmarks toolbar item has been removed from the toolbars.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a fresh profile.
2. Select View -> Toolbars -> Customize...
3. Remove the Bookmarks toolbar item by moving it to the "Customize Toolbar" window.
4. Click on "Done".
5. Open Home.
6. Click on Bookmarks (from the menu at the top).
7. Middle-click on a menu item (in a submenu).
Actual Results:
Nothing happens.

Expected Results:
The link should have been opened in a new tab.

Possible related bug: bug 313718.
I'm getting the exact same issue.
BTW, this bug still occurs with:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux ppc; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060830 Firefox/1.5.0.7 (Debian-1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.7-1)

Could some developer confirm it and mark it as NEW?

With

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/2008102920 Firefox/3.0.4

on the same machine, the page is now opened, but in the current tab instead of a new tab.

Could you try in Safe mode? http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode

For me it opens in a new tab...
Same problem in Safe Mode here.
Is this specifically PPC linux? Which distro?

Otherwise, this is WORKSFORME on Intel Ubunti 8.10:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090212 Minefield/3.2a1pre Ubiquity/0.1.4

No, the problem occurred under PPC linux in the past, and no longer occurs on this machine. But it is still not fixed under Mac OS X (I've updated the platform).
OS: Linux → Mac OS X
indeed bug 313718 covers exactly os x, so we can now dupe

Indeed I forgot about this bug. I might have been a bit confused in 2007 or 2008, and perhaps the bug I was seeing under Linux was different from the one under Mac OS X. Anyway I couldn't reproduce any such bug on two different Linux machines.
