It would be extremely handy to have components under "Mozilla Localizations" for all the locales that are supported in l10n CVS and have them default assigned to the appropriate locale person. Right now, it seems that most bugs for locales that don't have components are going into "Other". Would this be possible? It would save a step and allow better organization of bugs. Just my two cents. :)
This is actually a tad bigger. Apart from a few components, the existing components have been created for the mozilla suite, and have respective owners and structure. I tried to raise a discussion within mlp-staff on this already, without a whole lot response so far. I'm not sure if we have a good solution, I don't expect an easy one for sure.
what in the world do you mean by default assigned? until you clarify this, i'm kicking this to axel for clarification

(In reply to comment #2) > what in the world do you mean by default assigned? Just answering again here (already explained on IRC). This bug is a request for the addition of components for the many locales that do not have one. I will get together a list of the missing locales that includes a name for each component, a description, an assignee, and a qa. By "default assigned" I just meant that each component would have a real "assignee" and not just a placeholder.
Summary: Add components for all locales → Add components for all missing locales
Here is my preliminary list of components to be added. I pulled this information from a combination of CVS, the wiki, and already-added components. Axel: Please check over the entire list. I wasn't sure about the QA on a couple of these (due to multiple peers / owners), so could you especially check the ones with a blank QA (and fill one in). af-ZA / Afrikaans (NOT IN CVS) Afrikaans translation of Mozilla. Just for clarification, the (NOT IN CVS) at the end is just a note saying that particular locale is not in CVS, yet is on the wiki as active. The note is not part of the component name. I pulled the information in this list from the "Teams with CVS access" portion of the l10n wiki. The descriptions all lack UTF-8 names (in their respective languages) to match most of the other components. Each locale is going to have to submit that somehow unless Axel has it somewhere.
Let's first of all veto this list. Just guessing on how folks want to use bugzilla sounds wrong to me. Give me two weeks to come up with a real plan and then with a list.
I'd say we should only create components for lnaguages that want to have one, and set up default assignees as requested by those. That said, I think we also should finally adjust the existing components to reflect "new" reality of more flexible locale names. In particular, I'd request the de-AT component to be renamed to "de / German" and get a default assignee of "de@l10n.bugs" or such, which will be watched by all owners of German mozilla.org L10n projects, and we'll reassign the bugs as needed to one of those owners. I'd propose this solution all other L10n teams who have different owners for different sub-projects as well. Those languages where one person own all the work can probably use that one as default assignee directly.

Based on the QA Contacts from other Mozilla Localizations components, it looks like it probably should be "german.de@localizations.bugs".

adding locale "da" to list default assignee should be da@localization.bugs (or similar) which we'll make all da members listen to and tsubsequently distribute bugs to their rightful owner... NOTE: the current da-DK component was made for Suite, and is currently not used by members of the CVS based teams
(In reply to comment #10) > NOTE: the current da-DK component was made for Suite, and is currently not used > by members of the CVS based teams Then this component should be renamed to "da" instead.
#11 > Kairo ... i don't know whether this component is in use by the Suite/Seamokey team ... - that's why i suggested a new component... - also many (although not all) of the bugs currently residing in the component have nothing to do with FX / TB....
talked with axel... I think we can get started with at least the list in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348780 and then add more components are needed and time allows. we need the list on bug 348780 to help ship locales that will be ready to go for Firefox 2.0
The following locales have been added in Bugzilla, per Chris Hofmann. The email addresses that were listed in some cases were not in Bugzilla, so for those locales I used nobody@mozilla.org for now. When someone provides the correct def assignee and QA contact I will replace the names. pa-IN - nobody@mozilla.org pt-eu Portuguese(Europeu) hu Hungarian ru Russian - nobody@mozilla.org sl-SL Slovenian Slovensko ca CatalanCatalà - nobody@mozilla.org el Greek ro Romanian eu Basque Euskara ga Gaelic fy Frisian sq Albanian Shqipe - nobody@mozilla.org gu Gujarati(In reply to comment #13) > talked with axel... for Punjabi (Gurmukhi) pa-IN - Assignee: apbrar@gmail.com QA: apbrar@gmail.com thanks
(In reply to comment #12) Søren, I don't see why you need a new component for that. We're happily sharing one component between the different products' L10n teams for German as well, and that works quite good.
Why is the code for Portuguese "pt-eu"? It should be either "pt-PT" or just "pt"...
(In reply to comment #17) > Why is the code for Portuguese "pt-eu"? It should be either "pt-PT" or just > "pt"... Right, I wondered about that as well. "pt-eu" is crap. It's "pt-PT" (in contrast to "pt-BR").
