User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

When I add a new search engine it doesn't get added to the dropdown list of search engines until I restart Firefox.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select the Add Engines... option from the Search engine dropdown
2. Choose any engine from the webpage thats displayed
3. Click on OK in the confirmation dialog that opens up
4. Immediately and I mean immediately click on the Engine dropdwon making the list drop down.
5. You will see for a few seconds the new Engine is displayed BELOW the "Add Engine" option
6. Click somewhere else in the browser
7. Click on Engine drop down now and the new engine aren't there you may see a horizontal line instead.
8. Repeat 1 to 7 for as many engines as you want.
9. Exit and restart Firefox and you'll the new engines.
Actual Results:
New engines aren't added to until browser restart

Expected Results:
New Engines should ahve been displayed in the dropdown

When upgrading from an earlier version to Firefox 1.5 previously added search engines are overwritten. I couldn't reproduce when running the installer again. I don't have the time to reinstall my previous version Firefox 1.0.6 and and again upgrade to 1.5 but if someone else could try would appreciate it.
Related to bug 225717?
reports in testday have discovered this also... seems related to a slower machine

Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
OS: Windows 2000 → Windows XP
Example of this bug:
http://www.celestialorder.com/dev/mozilla/firefox/20060106/firefox-1.5.0.1-SearchBar.jpg

Upon restarting Firefox however the search engine list gets reorganised into alphabetical order and fixes the problem although steps can be repeated to recreate the problem again.
I don't think this bug is relevant to the new search service, since it builds the search engine dropdown list in a different that avoids this problem. Please feel free to reopen if you can reproduce with a Firefox 2 build (I can't).
