When you drag a tab over itself, show the cannot-drop icon.

Isn't this only a problem for linux builds? WFM on windows.

WFM too on Windows, when the mouse is over/inside the moved tab.
But I'd like the egde case to be fixed too:
when the mouse is (within half-tab-length) outside the moved tab, and the insert arrow is on the left or right of it:
the tab won't move, so it should still be cannot-drop (= meaning "working but useless") too, I think.
