Quit, relaunch. Even if the folder is unpopulated, selecting Delete has no effect, dragging to Trash has no effect, and opening Bookmarks to delete manually has no effect. Also, the item option to UN-select Dock Menu is grayed out. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: (see details)
The item type of such a folder in bookmarks.plist is 16. Resetting this to zero allows the item to be deleted.
