Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5 When I use the drop down menu (the arrow to the right of address bar), the chosen address does not load. It just simply reloads the current page. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Click the arrow on the right of the address bar 2.Choose the previously used address on the drop down menu. 3. Actual Results: The current page loaded in Firefox 1.5 gets reloaded instead of the chosen one. Expected Results: The chosen page should be loaded into the browser.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051207 Firefox/1.5 Works for me. Please retest in Firefox's safemode to find out of this is caused by an extension: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode_(Firefox)
This bug annoys me too. I have noticed that usually this is connected to extension loading data (forecastfox). Usually while forecastfox is loading data I can't select address from drop down menu, only by typing it into address bar.
Has anyone found a solution to this bug, yet? I've been having the same problem since I upgraded to FF 1.5 last week.
I experience this bug as well with 1.5 and believe it used to happen with earlier versions but am not certain. However, in my experience, Firefox does not just reload the current page, it executes the contents of the Address Bar, whatever they may be. What I mean by this, is I often type a single letter (or two) into the address bar to pull-up a URI that I have frequently referenced. If I then click on the first suggested URL, the browser will sometimes execute the contents of the address bar BEFORE the new URI has been placed in the address bar. For example, if I type 'g' into the address bar, then select 'www.google.com', my browser may sometimes be redirected to the default search page for 'g', which happens to lead to GMail. This is just an example, as it has happened to me in trying to reach several other web pages. I'm not certain if there is any correlation, but the error seems to happen to me more often when the browser or my system is very busy. Since this bug seems to indicate that the contents of the URI suggestion is not actually making it into the "address bar" before it is executed, I assume this indicates a race condition. I would guess that a workaround would be to direct the current page to the suggested URI immediately when the item is clicked rather than first placing the contents into the bar first. I'm also not very used to Bugzilla reporting. Since I have described a new facet of the bug, does this belong as a new report, or should I leave this as a comment to the obviously related bug? (Note: I have not observed the source code, but the behaviour seems strongly indicative of the circumstances I have described)
I am really beginning to dislike your policy on fixing bugs. This bug may be caused by an extension, but with those same extensions FF 1.0.7 didn't break. So, it's not caused *only* by extension. And this bug is so common that developers lack of interest in fixing this is just amazing.
No, this is not caused by an extension. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 316331 ***
