If we are going to implement support for the bittorrent protocol, we might want to consider supporting the proposed extension for bittorrent by the makers of GetRight (this has already been implemented in GetRight 6.0 beta 4).

Full specification available here:
http://www.getright.com/seedtorrent.html

As a quick summary of what it's about, essentially it lets you add a list of http/ftp URLs to the torrent. The bittorrent software then combines the parts of the file from the extra source(s) into a single file, and also uploads bits from the file to the rest of the swarm.

It's probably going to be quite some time before this is implemented, so the proposal might well be adopted by other bittorrent clients as well in the meantime.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Depends on: BitTorrent
Azureus 2.4.0.0 now supports this, so it looks as if this standard is getting off the ground, and so really might be worth supporting :)
As further implementation details, Azureus release notes state: "Webseeds will only be used when a download's availability is less than 1.0." Although we might of course not want to implement it like that.
